Frequently Asked Questions

At Tim Milton Construction, having good communication with our clients is one of our paramount goals. We’re always available to answer your questions. Here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

Q

When it comes to choosing a contractor, what are the most important considerations?
There is no question that you will really need to find yourself a skilled builder who works with equally talented subcontractors. Experience in building and knowledge in materials is critical. But hands down, the most important deciding factor in choosing your contractor is trust. There are so many aspects of the job that you’ll need to rely on the integrity of the builder, so make sure you chose wisely.

Q

If a contractor has a license, doesn’t that mean they’ll be able to handle the job?
Yes. They need a license to be able to legally operate in the area. However; that certainly is not a guarantee of excellence. Make sure you take your time in choosing a contractor and check references.

Q

In times like these, shouldn’t I always go for the lowest bid?
First off, the lowest bid will rarely end up being the lowest costing job. Many contractors who are desperate for work are willing to put in a rock bottom bid with the hope of adding all kinds of “upgrades” to the project as they go along. Unfortunately, this type of bait and switching is a reality. Make sure you work with someone who you trust and who you are confident will treat you fairly.
